01 / MEDICINE

Before medicine was my career, it was personal.

My mother’s experience with breast cancer led me toward cancer care. Early mentorship, research, university study, and hands-on clinical work have continued to shape my goal of becoming an oncologist.

THE BEGINNING

A personal reason to pursue oncology.

My mother’s fight with breast cancer brought cancer care into my life in a deeply personal way. While she was being treated at the Mitchell Cancer Institute, I began learning from Dr. Thomas W. Butler, whose mentorship helped shape my early exposure to clinical oncology and research.

Those experiences remain central to why I’m pursuing an MD and a career in oncology.

One person. Different perspectives.

These are distinct stories. The way one part of my life informs another isn’t necessarily the same in reverse. Select a perspective to explore it.
